A rose is a rose is a rose unless you are talking about rosé of course.
From time to time, I hope to share with you things I enjoy. Consider this the fashion piece of my blog, but instead of a great pair of shoes it’s a great bottle of wine. I do love a good glass of wine and trust many of you do as well. In addition, I will let you know where you can find the wine in the Charlotte area. If you are reading this from afar, please send me a message and I can try and find where you can buy it locally as well.
I recently sat down with a few that you should try.
2015 J Vineyards & Winery Vin Gris Russian River Valley
Description includes strawberry compote, tangerine and pink grapefruit with a juicy palate. This wine is great for sipping by the pool.

Or celebrate with some sparkling rosé as well.
J Brut Rosé Sparkling
Description incudes acidity, steely minerality, blood orange and blanched almonds. This is great to toast or is a great food wine as well.
2016 Champs de Provence Rosé
This is a French rosé (nothing against anyone else) but I do prefer a French Rosé if I get to choose. This wine is a blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Carignan and Mourvedre – not a coincidence that some of my favorite red wines boast the same grapes. Description includes berries, citrus and orange blossom with a mineral finish. This wine improved with food.

2016 Fleur de Mer Cotes de Provence Rosé
This wine is a blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Carignan, Mourvedre and Cabernet. Description includes watermelon, citrus, peach and herbs with soft minerality on the finish. I felt minerality throughout with a great finish and nice acidity. Great food wine.

2016 Lafage Miraflors Rosé
A blend of Mourvedre and Grenache Gris. This is my go to Rosé. Always delicious and impresses any hostess you bring it to.

2016 Bieler Rose
Kind of a cool story – Charles Bieler is a New York hipster, innovator, marathon runner. He spent his formative wine years in Provence before rosé was hip. He traveled to the US in a pink Cadillac to promote the rosé he created. Described as savory lavender and rosemary to rose petals and citrus. This is a rich wine with great acidity.
Find this by the glass at Bonterra.
2016 Miraval Rose
Yes, this is the famed wine of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, but with the Perrin family involved it is actually worth trying. The Perrins own Chateau Beaucastel (one of the greatest wine producers around).
Find this at Reids on Selwyn.
